"Beten und arbeiten" war das Motto der Mönche, die 1163 das Zisterzienserkloster gründeten. In der Folge wurde es Sitz des wichtigsten Predigerseminars der Hannoverschen Landeskirche und Namensgeber des Hotel Loccumer Hof.
